Use Cases

The Intelligent Appointment Management (IAM) platform, through a standardized API interface, helps external systems schedule patients with Electronic Medical Records (EMR). Existing IAM implementations work with Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR) based EMRs, such as Epic and Cerner. This use case adds support for athenahealth’s proprietary appointment scheduling APIs. It uses a new MuleSoft-based integration client.

Patient portals, mobile apps, and call center tools can now seamlessly interact with athenahealth to:

  • Retrieve available appointment slots.
  • Book appointments.
  • Cancel appointments.
  • Modify appointments.
  • Register Patient.
  • Update Patient.
  • Create Communication.
  • Create MedicationRequest refill.

  1. Scheduler user searches and books an appointment for a patient
  2. Scheduler user cancels an existing appointment for a patient
  3. Scheduler user modifys an existing appointment for a patient
  4. Agentforce can register a new Patient in Athena System.
  5. Agentforce can update an existing Patient in Athena System.
  6. Agentforce can create a Communication for a Patient in Athena System.
  7. Agentforce can create a new MedicationRequest refill on an existing MedicationRequest for a Patient in Athena System.
